OnePlus India has announced that its handsets afflicted by the green screen issue will get a lifetime guarantee.
OnePlus claims that the warranty applies to all models, but that older OnePlus devices, such as the OnePlus 8 Pro, OnePlus 8T, OnePlus 9, and OnePlus 9R, would not be covered because there are no “spare parts” to address the problem.
Some OnePlus customers in India and around the world have resorted to social media to complain about a bizarre green screen glitch.
OnePlus is now providing affected users with a lifetime warranty.
If your phone is affected, OnePlus will replace the screen free of charge.
OnePlus has provided a lifetime warranty for users who have experienced the “green-screen” issue. The business claims that the warranty covers all models, but that older OnePlus devices, such as the OnePlus 8 Pro, OnePlus 8T, OnePlus 9, and OnePlus 9R, would not be covered because there are no “spare parts” to address the problem. However, OnePlus is providing up to a Rs 30,000 discount voucher for upgrading their old cellphone to a new OnePlus device, specifically the OnePlus 10R. This indicates that buyers can get a new OnePlus 10R for around Rs 5,000 to Rs 10,000.
According to the Android Authority, the lifetime warranty is only available to customers in India. According to the report, a spokeswoman stated, “We realize that this issue has caused a great deal of inconvenience to the affected users, and we apologize.” In keeping with our unshakable commitment, we invite consumers to contact the nearest OnePlus service center for device diagnostics, and we will provide free screen replacement for any handsets affected by the circumstance. On select OnePlus 8 and 9 Series smartphones, we are also offering a voucher that will provide the consumer with a reasonable percentage of the device value to upgrade to a new OnePlus device. In light of the current scenario, we are now giving lifetime screen.
A Telegram user also spotted a notice outside a OnePlus service center. The announcement goes into greater information about the “discount voucher” that OnePlus is offering to OnePlus 8 Pro, OnePlus 8T, OnePlus 9, and OnePlus 9R users in India who are affected by the screen issue.
According to the note, OnePlus 8 Pro owners would receive a Rs 25,500 voucher, while OnePlus 8T users will receive a Rs 20,000 voucher. The OnePlus 9 and OnePlus 9T will each receive a voucher worth Rs 23,500 and Rs 19,000, respectively. Furthermore, OnePlus will provide an additional Rs 4,500 incentive if affected users with earlier OnePlus phones upgrade to the OnePlus 10R. In India, the OnePlus 10R costs between Rs 34,999 and Rs 39,999.
Readers should be aware that the notice makes no mention of the smartphone’s condition in order for it to be eligible for the discount voucher.
Why is OnePlus providing OnePlus users in India with a lifetime warranty?
Some OnePlus customers in India and around the world have resorted to social media in recent weeks to highlight an unusual green screen issue. While phones continue to function normally, the green line remains and degrades the overall scrolling experience. The issue appears to be more prevalent with OnePlus phones with an AMOLED display.
