At $3,999, the Oppo Reno10 Pro provides a well-rounded experience. The phone stands out for its beautiful display, powerful camera, and long-lasting battery life – Oppo Reno10 Pro Review.
The Oppo Reno10 Pro, a premium-mid range member of the Reno10 family, is up for review today. The phone, which is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 778G chipset, competes in its class with powerful products from OnePlus, iQOO, and Samsung. We’ll see how it all works out.
The new Oppo Reno10 Pro, like its Plus counterpart, has a glossy premium appearance. While the two models appear to be similar, the camera module and the removal of the MariSilicon lens in the latter are notable variances.
The Reno10 Pro is available in two appealing colors: silvery grey and glossy purple. The latter was sent to us for assessment; it has a soft pastel tint with an exquisite and unobtrusive appearance. In terms of construction, the Reno10 Pro is a basic sandwich three-piece design. The back and front sides naturally curve into the slim center frame, resulting in a smooth and visually pleasing device that also provides a superior grip. The frame adds to the phone’s quality feel, although it is prone to smudges.
The Reno10 Pro employs an under-display optical fingerprint reader that is both fast and accurate. On the top, there’s a secondary microphone and an IR blaster for remote control. The volume rocker and power button are located on the right side and are narrow but easy to locate. Moving down, you’ll notice the twin Nano-SIM tray, the primary microphone, and the convenient USB Type-C connection. While the phone has a single bottom-firing speaker, it would have been a great touch to include a second stereo speaker, especially given the phone’s price point.
The new Oppo Reno10 Pro 5G features a 6.7-inch FullHD+ AMOLED screen with a 1080×2412 pixel resolution. The refresh rate on the display is 120Hz. While not adaptable, you can select from 60Hz, 120Hz, or auto modes to suit your tastes. The display is viewable even in bright outside circumstances, thanks to a peak brightness of 950 nits. A 10-bit panel capable of generating 1 billion or more colors powers the display. As a result, color banding is eliminated, resulting in richer, more accurate color representation. Furthermore, the display is HDR10+ certified, which provides an improved dynamic range and immersive viewing experience. However, the phone lacks Dolby Vision capability, which we would have wanted to see.
The new Reno10 Pro ships with Android 13 pre-installed, along with Oppo’s sleek and user-friendly ColorOS 13.1 skin. This dynamic combination provides intelligent features that provide a pleasurable user experience. However, Oppo’s pre-installed apps display needless adverts and send notifications, which can be annoying to a new user.
The Oppo Reno10 Pro is equipped with an octa-core Snapdragon 778G 5G processor built on an efficient 6 nm-based node technology. While it is not the most recent processor on the market, it has proven its usefulness in a variety of smartphones, regularly giving reliable and smooth performance. The Reno10 Pro comes with a substantial 12GB LPDDR4x RAM and 256GB UFS 2.2 storage to complement the chipset’s capabilities. Oppo has also included RAM expansion technology, which allows you to increase the RAM by an additional 12GB. This one-of-a-kind feature improves the device’s multitasking capabilities and ensures a lag-free experience.
The phone has a triple-camera configuration on the back, with the primary camera being a 50MP Sony IMX890 with optical image stabilisation (OIS). The sensor catches accurate colors and produces high-quality photos. In overall, the dynamic range performance is impressive. The primary camera shines in low-light circumstances, generating well-exposed photos with minimum noise, making it one of the best performers in this class.
The 8MP ultra-wide camera takes high-quality photos with clear details. Another noteworthy feature is the incorporation of a 2X telephoto camera, which is unusual in this segment. It has a good dynamic range and catches good details, however its color temperature differs from the primary camera, delivering slightly cooler tones.
The phone has a large 4,600mAh battery with a quick charging capability of 80W. The smartphone provides adequate battery backup with this battery capacity, easily lasting a whole day. It takes about 35-40 minutes to charge the phone completely. The smartphone includes a SuperVOOC S Power Management Chip to enable safe charging, providing consumers with piece of mind during charging sessions.
At $3,999, the Oppo Reno10 Pro provides a well-rounded experience. The phone distinguishes out thanks to its beautiful display, powerful camera, and long-lasting battery life. While its performance is adequate for the price, we believe there are several alternative solutions on the market that provide greater value in terms of processing and power.
